Armed cops swoop after Christmas Eve shop raid

The man produced a weapon and threatened staff working at the Spar shop on Larch Road, Abronhill, at around 8pm.

He asked staff to hand over cash and when they panicked, he ran out of the shop empty handed.

Several witnesses had spotted the would-be robber acting suspiciously outside the shop and wandering aimlessly around the area.

Police say he left the area at around 7.45pm only to return 15 minutes later to commit the offence.
