Author Jim hopes to sell fund-raising Chernobyl book in Cumbernauld’s Antonine Centre

A LOCAL aid worker who has turned author will be selling his book in Cumbernauld’s Antonine Centre on Saturday (May 28).

Jim Gillies, who hails from Abronhill, has penned From Chernobyl With Love with journalist pal Murray Scougall and has been selling the book, priced £7.99 online.

The retired engineer has put aside a stackful of copies to bring to the mall – and is hoping that Cumbernauld folk will show their trademark generosity at his stall.

Patients in a run-down hospital in the Ukrainian town of Malin will be beneficiaries as big-hearted Jim is using every penny from the book sale to buy medical supplies for those still suffering the effects of deadly nuclear fallout such as cancer and leukaemia. The book was released to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl meltdown.
