P4 pupils Holly Bruce, Rachael Mooney and Molly Speir were joined by councillors Tom Johnston and Elizabeth Irvine, and other representatives for the burial.

The capsule – which was filled with many items including photographs, DVDs and a Kildrum Primary sweatshirt – has been buried beneath social housing provider Sanctuary Cumbernauld’s 58 home development in Ainslie and Maclehose roads.

The £5.8 million project is due to complete later this year, with all 58 homes available for social rent.
