Beauty spot for Kilsyth toilet

A former public toilet in Kilsyth will be turned into a beauty spot.

A planning application lodged with North Lanarkshire Council to change the use of the former public toilets on King Street into a beauty and nail salon has been approved, subject to conditions.

Previously, plans had been lodged to turn the site into a hot food take away, but they were denied earlier this year.

The council were notified of the plans last October to change the use of the site, but several objections were made.

The application was eventually rejected for several reasons including the location of the site being in a conservation area. It was also thought the plans would have had a detrimental effect on the surrounding residential area.
