Bill’s marathon effort to raise cash

CARRICKSTONE man Bill Keith is preparing to take on the London Marathon to help buy equipment for a local care home.

Bill, pictured, wants to raise money to help Carrickstone Care Home purchase sensory equipment such as fibre optic lights and sensory wall panels, which offer therapeutic benefits to people suffering from dementia.

Bill’s father in law, Giuseppe, has been a resident at Carrickstone Care home since late 2011.

42-year-old Bill, who works as a people development consultant, said: “I wanted to do something to help Carrickstone as they take great care of my father-in-law.”

The race is on April 21 and Bill has been training hard to ensure he completes the world-famous 26.2 mile race.

“The training has been going well,” said Bill, who has recently completed the Alloa half-marathon.

“That was fine,” he said. “Completing the distance wasn’t a problem, though the weather could have been nicer on the day.”

Bill is hoping lots of local people will want to sponsor his efforts to improve life for the Carrickstone Care Home residents.

You can contact him on 07802 590953 or email on [email protected]. Sponsor forms are also available at the care home itself.
