Bob lived life to the full

CUMBERNAULD has lost one of its characters and the Cumbernauld News a friend after it emerged that our correspondent Bob Lindsay passed away over Christmas.

Mr Lindsay from Balloch was admitted to Monklands Hospital several weeks ago following complications with his hip. Sadly his health deteriorated over his stay and he passed away a day shy of his 88th birthday.

The life-loving pensioner who lived in Cairngorm Gardens was an enthusiastic herald for his area's many groups like its youth football team, toddlers group and after school club – and anyone who submitted their copy before 5pm on the Thursday would have it included in his reports.

Sprightly Mr Lindsay was until recently, a weekly visitor to the News office with his weekly updates, all of which were meticulously typed out on his computer. Age was never a barrier to his wholehearted embrace of technology.

Mr Lindsay is survived by his brother David and sister Elma who live in England plus the family in Cumbernauld - son Robert and daughter-in-law Joyce plus his grandsons Gordan and Craig.

His funeral will take place this Saturday at the Co-operative Funeral Parlour at 10.15am and Daldowie Crematorium at 11.15am.
