Body found

Police say they are still trying to identify the remains so that relatives can be informed.

A police spokesperson said: “The discovery was made by members of the public near Auchenstarry, near Kilsyth. The body was discovered within a stretch of water.

Inquiries are ongoing to formally establish the man’s identity.”

Police would not officially confirm whether the body is that of pensioner Sandy Gerrard, 69, who was recently thought to have been sighted in Kilsyth.
