The Westerwood Hotel has undergone a £1.3 million refurbishment after joining the portfolio of luxury hotel brand, Hilton.
North Lanarkshire depute provost Tom Castles cut the ribbon to declare the renamed DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa and Golf Resort officially open.
Councillor Castles joined the hotel’s general manager Bill Burnett for a tour to see how it has benefitted from the refurbishment as part of its rebrand.
This includes a wing of bedrooms being completely redeveloped and the creation of four new luxury suites.
In addition every bedroom received a brand new luxury Hilton bed, latest 50” LG TV, mini-safes and refrigerators.
Hilton’s new digital lock technology which allows guests to check in and issue their own room key via a mobile phone is coming soon.
The four-star property, managed by RBH, joins 47 other UK hotels within the DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio.
It is home to an 18-hole golf course, 148 guest rooms, award-winning spa, leisure and fitness facilities, restaurants and bars, and meeting and event spaces.
Bill Burnett said: “We’re pleased to officially call the hotel part of the DoubleTree by Hilton family and reiterates to guests the exceptional standards of service they should expect when they visit us.
“It was wonderful to welcome Councillor Castles to officially open the hotel under its new name, and have the opportunity to show him around and introduce the team. We look forward to welcoming guests, and offering them best possible experience.”
Councillor Castles added: “I was honoured to have the chance to see the investment that has already gone into the property as a result of the rebrand.
“This hotel has been part of the area for a number of years and, now it is part of the Hilton brand, I am confident it will continue to attract visitors from near and far.”
