Calean (9) reels in £800 from big climb to boost funds for pipe band
So far, Caelan (9) has raised more than £800 for Kirkintilloch Pipe Band.
Along with his mum and pipe band drummer Ross McCafferty (17), the young Oxgang Primary School pupil made it to the top of the 3,196 ft Munro.

“I don’t know how he had the puff left to do it after climbing all that way up Ben Lomond. It was quite hard going but he was very excited to do it. It was Caelan’s idea to do ‘Hiking for Piping’ in aid of the band. The band is low on members at the moment and we hope more people will join up.
“It’s a great band. Caelan started to learn last October and now his younger twin brothers Blaer and Blaen, who are seven, are keen to learn the drums in the band.”
Laura said Caelan was delighted with the amount he had raised so far from sponsorship forms.

“Caelan got so much encouragement from other walkers on the way up.
“When he played at the top, everyone was cheering and clapping.”
Caelan was also proud to march in pride of place with the pipe band during the recent Kirkintilloch Gala Day, from William Patrick Library to Hillhead Centre.
