NORTH Lanarkshire Council says it will not increase traffic calming in Queenzieburn – despite local calls for it to do so.

Queenzieburn Community Council and local politicians have been demanding improved traffic control in the village as they feel it is plagued by “boy racers”.

Labour List MSP and councillor Mark Griffin said: “The speed limit on the road is of concern and it needs to be addressed.”

Local councillor Jean Jones said: “This has been an issue I have been involved in since I was elected.”

But the council’s Alex Ramsay said that, following analysis of incidents in the area, there were no plans to carry out traffic calming works in the village.
