Campaigner in plea to Scottish Labour leader

A campaigner fighting to secure cancer treatments at Stobhill Hospital is calling on the new Scottish Labour leader to take action.

Lenzie man Tom Herbert wants Jim Murphy to back the battle for a chemotherapy day service at the hospital.

Currently, patients from East Dunbartonshire and North Glasgow have to travel to the Beatson West
of Scotland Cancer Centre
at Gartnavel Hospital for
treatment.

Dr Amanjit Jhund,
Labour’s candidate for East Dunbartonshire in May’s General Election, has already given his backing to the campaign and has set up an online petition in support of the service. He told the Herald last month that NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has “serious questions to answer”.

The campaign for chemotherapy treatment to be delivered at Stobhill Hospital has been led by Tom Herbert.

He told the Herald:“I want the Scottish Labour
leader to take action.

“With the General Election coming up and a new Labour constituency office opening in East Dunbartonshire, Mr Murphy must show his support to local cancer patients .”

JimMurphy stopped off in Kirkintilloch at the beginning of September as part of the Better Together campaign.
