Carbrain Gala Day date announced

CUMBERNAULD'S colourful cavalcade of Gala Days this summer will come to a close on Saturday August 14.

That is the day just released for the Carbrain Gala Day which will take place at St Margaret of Scotland Primary.

Newsletters are to be sent out with more details about the day which is traditionally something of a last hurrah for schoolchildren who return to their desks the following week.

The highly coveted role of Gala Queen has still to be decided but it is she who will open the event with her two attendants, but organisers have already succeeded in confirming the presence of some special guests.

These include martial artists who will demonstrate the ancient skill of Tae-Kwon-Do plus local dancers and drummers.

And a working fire engine will also be on display courtesy of Cumbernauld Fire Station.

Organiser Angi Inch said: " We have local groups raising valuable funds and awareness of what they do for the community. With lots of great items for sale, from jewellery to cake & candy, there's sure to be something that will take everybody's fancy.

To reserve a stall, buy raffle tickets, donate prizes or to help on the day, contact either Alice Homer on 613755 or Angi on 609354.
