Care home quarantine is lifted

Norovirus quarantine was lifted at Craig En Goyne Care Home last Thursday, after 48 hours passed without anyone in the home exhibiting symptoms of the infection, which is also known as winter vomiting disease.

Stephen Giles, director at Craig En Goyne Care Home, said: “We are very pleased that the outbreak is now over and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our incredibly dedicated staff for their support throughout.”

The quarantine was put into effect on Easter Sunday after the virus was detected in the care home and disease prevention procedures were supervised by NHS Lanarkshire. A spokesman said norovirus was ever-present in communities, so its presence at the home did not necessarily mean Kilsyth would see an increased number of cases.

The Care Inspectorate stated last week that there were no outstanding issues at Craig En Goyne and no action would be taken against the home as a result of this incident.
