Cartoon Kitty is hit in cafe

SHE’S big in Japan – and in Cumbernauld also!

High-as-kites tots numbering 100 in total had succeeded in persuading their mum and grans to take them to a meet and greet at the Centre Caffe with their idol – which was a sellout success.

Their aim? To lunch at a special Easter Holiday event with a world-famous style icon who hails from the Land of the Rising Sun.

And there can be little doubt that the one-and-only Hello Kitty sparked a feline frenzy as baffled shoppers and passers-by wondered what all the fuss was about.

Few could hear themselves think above cries of “We Love Hello Kitty!’’ by carried-away fans – many of whom sported tee-shirts bearing the image of their very own top cat.

The cartoon world has certainly seen a few feisty felines.

But Garfield, Puss-in-Boots, Felix, Tom or even The Aristocats would not have got a look-in when Kitty did her thing.

Dishing out hugs, posing for photographs, effortlessly modelling a carefully chosen ensemble in her favourite colour of pink.... it was all in a day’s work for the star who inspired so much cat chat in Cumbernauld Centre!
