Cash raised at the car wash

Firefighters have helped raise £300 for a Cumbernauld based charity by holding a car wash.

The firefighters from Cumbernauld Fire Station held the car wash in Tesco, Cumbernauld, car park recently to raise the cash for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association.

Tesco usually request that half the money raised goes to their own chosen charity but on this occasion they decided that the whole amount should go towards the worthwhile local cause.

Lynsey Hamilton, of the Scottish Spina Bifida Association, was delighted with the funds raised from the event.

She said: “Cumbernauld Fire Station have a soft spot for the charity.

“They have come down to see the work we do and they even helped with the construction of a swing.

“Watch commander David Moore is very proactive in encouraging fundraising events for us and they have done a lot of things in the past to help raise cash.”
