Change of career student proves it is never too late

MOST of us think it is too late for change of career but a Croy man has proved it can be done – and in an award-winning way.

Mark Kerr was working as a food manager with Marks and Spencer when he decided on a career change.

The 30-year-old embarked on Cumbernauld College’s HNC Events course in August last year and hasn’t looked back since.

Mark, who graduated from the college on Monday, November 19, along with more than 100 students, has won several awards because of the work he has done as part of the course.

He formed the events group JusTechnique with fellow students Margaret McEwan and Jonathan Scullion.

The group featured in the News and Chronicle earlier this year as organisers of a Glee style choir contest for local primary schools.

This earned them a prestigious Event Scotland Award for ‘best student event’ and the group has set up an events company of the same name, and plan to roll the competition out to schools across Scotland.
