A CUMBERNAULD woman who has recently suffered a double bereavement is organising a very special tribute to her loved ones.

Tracy Monaghan lost her 48-year-old sister Marie to cancer last October – but the pain did not end there.

For Marie’s son Jason tragically passed away in his sleep just six weeks later. He was 24.

Jason who used a wheelchair had arthrogyposis, a rare congenital disorder affecting the nerves and muscles.

The Hoops-daft former pupil of St Francis of Assisi was known affectionately as J Dogg to his fleet of pals who often hung out at Broadwood Loch together. This was a particularly handy spot for Jason who lived with Marie in nearby Westfield.

Cumbernauld Village resident Tracy said: “The proceeds will be used to get a bench for Jason there. I think that both Marie and Jason would be delighted that I’m doing this.’’

The match will take place at Hat-trix soccer complex on Saturday, May 26 at 3pm.

This will be followed by a 5pm penalty shoot out – and will be followed by a race night in the complex.

Tracey said: “I would also like to say thank you to Ronnie Hunter who is allowing us to have this event at Hat-trix.’’

Anyone who would like to take part is asked to contact Tracy on 07867612900.
