Charity fund-raising golf drive a winner

The Scottish Spina Bifida Association in Cumbernauld have kicked off 2012 in style after receiving a cash injection from the Westerwood Hotel.

The award winning hotel and golf resort held a Seve Ballesteros charity day last year, with celebrities, club members and members of the public taking part in a round of golf at the course which the Spaniard designed.

The day managed to raise £1800 for the SSBA and Cancer Research UK and the cheque was presented to both charities last week.

Claire McNeil, Trusts and Corporate Fundraising Manager with the SSBA said: “We were absolutely delighted to have had this opportunity and are very thankful to the Westerwood and everyone who attended on the day.”

Richard Mayne, General Manager at the Westerwood said: “The Seve Golf day at The Westerwood Hotel and Golf Resort was a very special and poignant day for all concerned.

“The Westerwood has always been very proud of Seve’s long association with the Resort.

“As a result there has always been great affection held for him here and there was a real desire amongst our members and our team to mark this special man’s passing.

“In the spirit of his own passion to help others, we new that any event held in his honour must benefit a worthy cause.

“Like Seve, The Scottish Spina Bifida Association has a long established association with the Resort and so were a natural choice for us to work with.”
