Christmas begins in Kilsyth

There was plenty of festive cheer in Kilsyth town centre on Saturday as the Christmas lights were officially switched on.

Kilsythians and people from surrounding areas turned up in their droves to get into the spirit of the festive season.

The main event took place in Kilsyth Main Street and was hosted by Town Centre Activities.

To kick things off, the crowds were encouraged to take part in a Christmas sing song.

A large screen was situated in the town centre with the words to prompt revellers to join in with the sing song of Christmas tunes, old and news.

This year, Town Centre Activities also held a best dressed windows competition, which was opened to businesses on the Main Street.

Usual highlights also featured at the event such as Santa’s magic post box.

This allowed local kids to send their letter to Santa, and if they have been good enough all year round, we expect that he will write back.
