Church group marks decade of helping Third World countries

A group of charity volunteers at Sacred Heart Church have raised over £34,000 for projects in the developing world.

The Sacred Heart Third World Group, comprised of local parishioners, are approaching their tenth anniversary and recently celebrated their successful decade of donations with yet another charity coffee morning.

The group have raised a total of £34,500 in that period of time and have helped families, communities and charities in a range of different countries ravaged by poverty.

Former chairperson Agnes Price has recently retired from her role in the group and is proud of all the work they have achieved over the years.

“I’m really happy but also just amazed that we have got this far,” said Agnes.

“I’m always blown away by the generosity of the parish. I’ve had a great time doing this and working with everyone.”
