Climber falls in Auchinstarry emergency

Emergency services have gathered at Auchinstarry Quarry to rescue a female climber who is thought to have plunged from the cliff face.

An ambulance was called by fellow climbers after 2pm after the woman lost her footing in the spot which is popular with outdoor enthusiasts.

Firefighters were then summoned from Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth .

A specialist unit based in East Kilbride which has experienced climbers amongst its ranks was also asked to attend.

However, the efforts of those at the scene meant that their services were not required.

It is thought that that the woman has been taken to hospital. It is not known at this stage if the woman was local.

No-one else was injured.
