Closures on M80

The M80 Glasgow to Stirling road will be closed overnight for four nights to enable resurfacing works to be carried out at Junction 5, Auchenkilns Interchange.

This section of the M80 is used by around 38,000 vehicles every day in each direction and now requires resurfacing to ensure that route continues to operate safely.

Resurfacing works will be carried out on the northbound and southbound main carriageway, as well as the northbound off-slip and on-slip roads and the southbound on-slip road.

These works will be carried out overnight commencing on Friday, October 11, and be completed by Tuesday, October 15 at 6 a.m. Work will start at 8 p.m. each night and will be completed by 6 a.m. the following morning. A series of main carriageway and slip road closures will be in effect from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. each night for the duration of the works with diversion routes sign posted. Only one section of road either northbound carriageway, southbound carriageway or slip road will be closed at any one time.

There will be no restrictions to traffic during the day between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Commenting on the works Carnie Morrison, Highway Management (Scotland) Limited general manager, said: “These essential maintenance works are being carried out overnight when traffic flows are reduced, to minimize delays to motorists. We would however encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance where possible.”
