Community council chairman steps down

THE CHAIRMAN of 
Condorrat Community Council has quit his post for family reasons.

John King, of Etive Court, was a key figure in the revival of the dormant community council several years ago but has taken the difficult decision to stand down.

Mr King said: “I’m sorry to have to stand down but family comes first.’’

His post will be covered by vice chairman Alastair Petrie, who Mr King himself had brought on board to help him with the organisation.

Mr Petrie, of Gainburn Road, said: “John has paid a tremendous service to the community of Condorrat over the years and has shown great commitment throughout.

Member Bobby Johnstone, of Rosehill Drive, added: “It’s been a pleasure to deal with John in this role. He is an absolute gentleman who has done an awful lot for Condorrat over the years.

A new chairman will be elected at the community council’s agm in the autumn.
