Community hub is ultimate goal of Cumbernauld social enterprise organisation

An ambitious local group wants to create a community hub where people suffering from stress and anxiety can receive support in partnership with voluntary organisations.

Now You’re Talking which started four years ago, wants to have a proper base where it can reach out to even more people.

David McArthur argues that this is happening against a backdrop where many locals are experiencing problems with their mental health.

He said: “We’ve improved the well-being of many service users through walking groups, art, drama, peer support groups, social gatherings, debt advice and bespoke training.

“As a result NYT has helped people to take up employment, progress into further education, participate in the community through  volunteering, improve confidence and manage anxiety.

“We are currently looking to identify suitable premises and locations in which to host the community hub. We are also in the process of raising funds towards our contribution to setting up the Hub through a range of events.

“The first event that we are organising is a tandem parachute jump from which we hope to raise £60,000 To achieve this we are looking for 50 daredevils who can meet the challenge of raising sponsorship to volunteer and participate. The parachute jump will be over two days at Errol Airfield on the 21 and 22 of September.”
