The conman may have been driving a yellow pick-up style truck when he carried out his cruel scam when he made the 85-year-old woman, who stays in Fleming Road, part with the money last Friday, January 14.

Police said: “Bogus callers or workmen will often target people who live alone and have little contact with the outside world. These are the vulnerable people who we cannot always reach.”

The male is described as 30-years-old, of slim build, 5ft 8in tall with short dark brown hair and a Scottish accent, wearing a dark rain jacket.

Witnesses who may have saw anything suspicious around 2.30pm on the day in question or who may have seen the yellow vehicle or male suspect should contact police on 01236 503900 or Crime Stoppers.
