Condorrat gala fun is back

CONDORRAT will enjoy its first gala day in the village for 12 years on Saturday - and these are the young ladies who will add a royal touch to the proceedings.

They are Queen Shannon Inglis of Condorrat Primary and princesses Courtney Montgomrie from Baird Memorial and Anna Quinn -Cooper. The regal trio will head off the procession which kicks off from the car park at Condorrat Social Club at 12.30pm.

Joining them are some cartoon favourites more readily associated with Disneyland than Condorrat, with the world’s most famous mouse set to put in an appearance with more of celebrity friends.

The parade will snake its way to the place that will be the village’s key social hub on Saturday afternoon - St Helen’s Primary, where a well-thought programme of events has been laid on.

There, revellers can expect a bouncy castle, a five-a-side tournament, a petting zoo featuring everything from rabbits to tarantulas. Yet these are not the only animals to be guests at the event.

The adorable Shetland ponies which proved to be such a big hit with our readers when we featured them earlier this month will also appear.

The organisers - who are drawn from Condorrat Community Council and Condorrat Tenants and Residents Association- made contact with the rescue organisation which aims to have a local base.

Kate McLean of CTRA said: “We wanted to bring the ponies along and there will even also be rides available from other horses at the event. We’ve just been so busy!’’
