Condorrat man John’s memorable day at Scots Parly opening

John, member of the Condorrat Tenants and Residents Association, travelled to Edinburgh on Friday to take part in the ‘Riddings’ procession down the Royal Mile after MSP Hepburn nominated him as a ‘local hero’.

He was joined by 1500 other ‘local heroes’ on the day with each person joined by their MSP.

John, who has dedicated years of his life to serving the community of Condorrat and further afield, said: “Friday was out of this world. I was well looked after by Jamie, who went above and beyond the call of duty all day for me. I couldn’t have asked for any more.

“The best part of the day was the march. We were right up the front, behind the pipers, representing Cumbernauld and Kilsyth. I couldn’t have dreamt it. It was a beautiful day.”

John was accompanied throughout the day by Jamie, dressed in a traditional kilt and blazer for the occasion. He said: “I’m delighted John was able to take part in the events marking the start of the fourth session of Parliament. The wonderful summer weather helped add to the sense of occasion.

“Everyone enjoyed themselves and the day’s activities reflected many different aspects of life in modern Scotland. The Scottish Parliament is open to the public throughout the summer months, and I’m always happy to help people from Cumbernauld and Kilsyth make arrangements for a tour.”
