A report presented to the Policy and Resources Committee today, details 99 options totalling £49.7 million, with £45.5 million savings required.

Were all the options implemented a reduction of 1,095 full-time posts would be required from a total workforce of 12,043 full-time posts.

North Lanarkshire Council leader Jim McCabe, who is also convener of the Policy and Resources Committee, said: “We are committed to avoiding compulsory redundancies and will do everything we can to deal with reductions in staffing through voluntary redundancy, early retirement and redeployment.”

Prior to the meeting members of the Unison union protested outside Motherwell Civic Centre.
