Council house linked to health problems

Chronically damp conditions in a council house over an 18 month period are being blamed for serious health problems that landed its tenant in Monklands Hospital over Christmas.

Elizabeth Graham (59) of Almond Road in Abronhill has watched a stream of inspectors and contractors visit the property to examine a leak in the roof but the problem just worsened.

The former home carer who had to retire on health grounds had part of her ceiling removed as part of an assessment process.

However, the hole was never properly filled, meaning that the leaks continued on a daily basis while Elizabeth battled not only anxiety and depression but respiratory problem which saw her hospitalised.

After being discharged from Monklands, Elizabeth is now having to live with her brother in Glasgow but her irate daughter Catherine is demanding answers.
