Crash on Craigmarloch Roundabout sees injured man cut free from vehicle

A SUNDAY night traffic smash on Balloch Road resulted in a man having to be cut free from his vehicle.

Two local fire crews were called to Craigmarloch Roundabout at around 8.35pm following a collision involving two cars. They arrived at the scene four minutes after the call where they found there had been two casualties. One was being treated at roadside by paramedics but the other was still trapped in his vehicle.

The firefighters used hydraulic gear to remove the roof of the car and the injured driver was extracted. Both men were taken to Monklands Hospital for suspected neck injuries. The fire crews spent a total of one hour at the scene,

Local police inspector Drew Sinclair confirmed on Monday that, after neck braces had been applied, the two drivers’ injuries were reassessed as minor. There will be no criminal charges arising from this incident.
