Crime unit investigate Kilsyth break-ins

A SPECIAL crime team has been deployed to track down those responsible for a spate of break-ins in Kilsyth.

A total of seven businesses in the town’s Main Street and Garrell Vale Industrial Estate have been targeted by criminals in recent weeks.

Kilsyth-based sergeant David Law told members of Kilsyth Community Council that a crime team from Cumbernauld Police Office were investigating the problem during a meeting on Wednesday, August 15.

He also advised that a man had been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for allegedly being involved in one of the break-ins.

Police also say three homes have also been broken into in recent weeks and a 51-year-old man was the victim of a robbery which happened in the industrial estate on Monday, August 13 at around 2am.

Cash was taken from the man and the suspect is described as around 5’7” and he had a slim build.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity or vehicles around the time of the incident.
