Break-ins and shed torched in Cumbernauld street within hours.
Kildrum's Ainslie Road fell prey to a spate of break-ins on Thursday and an act of wilful fire raising took place on the same night.
Police have revealed that a number of elderly residents were among those targeted by a sneak thief - and that officers also dealt with a blaze started maliciously after a garden shed was torched.
Officers have stressed that the consequences could have been fatal if the householder had not acted with speed to extinguish the fire.
