Cumbernauld home broken into - then car is stolen

Kildrum has been the scene of another pre-Christmas break -in, following a spate of break-ins in this oldest part of the town.

For a premises in Afton Road was plundered overnight on Thursday, December 18 - but that was not the end of the matter.

Not happy with stealing a handbag with all its contents, a mobile phone and a quantity of vodka, the thief spied car keys.

His next move was to quit the scene with the keys and use them to start up the family car which was parked right outside.

As a consequence, the victims no longer have their brand new red Kia Venga as the thief drove away with it.

The victims awoke at 5.30am and contacted police.
