Cumbernauld teenagers targeted after knife was produced

Cumbernauld Police are on the lookout for witnesses after a teenager suffered serious injury in the street after being attacked with a knife.

The incident took place in Kildrum’s Corbiston Way at 12.30am on Monday (June 22) when an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were out walking.

The young male suffered a serious injury after being cornered by an armed thug and his female companion was at the receiving end of minor injuries when violence flared.

Officers would like to speak to anyone with information about this incident and anyone who can help is asked to contact them on 101 quoting incident number NC02870620.

Meanwhile police confirmed that an arrest was made at 1am on Sunday in Abronhill(June 21).

The incident occurred when a 36-year-old man was found in Lime Crescent in breach of curfew conditions imposed at court.

As officers moved to arrest him, he was found to be in possession of a knife.

He was then remanded in custody.

A report on this incident has been sent to the procurator fiscal in Airdrie.
