Dozens of volunteers search for Thomas
The volunteers met earlier this afternoon at St Lucy’s Church to try to help find 79-year-old Mr Lamb, who has been missing since Saturday. He was last sighted in Abronhill having taken a bus from Cumbernauld Town Centre, and was last sighted around 6.30pm.
The police organised the searchers into groups of around ten, and for safety reasons each group was accompanied by an officer. The teams carried out a thorough, but unsuccessful, search of the area. The groups started returning after around two hours, but the search continues.

Hide AdChief Inspector David Bruce, the senior police officer in the Cumbernauld area, spoke to the volunteers before they set off. He stressed the need for people to take care on the difficult woodland terrain. Professional searchers from the emergency services have also carried out multiple operations in the area.
One volunteer in today’s community-led operation was 44-year-old Eddie Palmer, who said: “I wanted to help my community by trying to find Tommy. I met him several times as he would come in to RS McColl to buy his paper. He is a lovely man.”
