Drunk Cumbernauld boy (12) rescued

Police have praised two good Samaritans who provided a lifeline for a stricken child who was found lying near Dullatur Roundabout.

The incident happened at 10.25pm on Friday, March 24 when a man and a woman spied the boy lying partially covered by bushes - after a drinking session.

They called the emergency services and the boy was taken by ambulance to Monklands Hospital where he was treated for hypothermia.

Inspector Phil Rose said: “We believe that if it had not been for the actions of the man and woman, the consequences for this boy could have been tragic.

“Thankfully, he has made a full recovery. Advice has been given to him and his friends about the dangers of alcohol and wandering away from friends without telling them.”
