Joyriders took car in Cumbernauld

Police have confirmed that officers briefly pursued the stolen vehicle at 4.10pm in Eastfield Road.

When officers caught up with the car, the driver crashed it - and ran out the vehicle. Then a number of passengers did likewise

Enquiries are ongoing to trace those involved.

Meanwhile it’s emerged, in an unrelated move, that a house north of the M80 was subject to an overnight break on Wednesday.

The house in question was in Balloch’s Gartcarron Road - but nothing was taken from the premises.

Police are however warning householders to be on their guard.
