Kilsyth attack horror

A 30-year old woman has been arrested in Kilsyth after allegedly mounting a random attack on another female on Friday.

It’s alleged that the woman targeted a 45-year-old stranger on a footpath on Parkfoot Street at 8.40pm.

The attacker punched her victim around the face and a horrified passer-by rushed to defend her.

An attempt to defuse the situation failed after the accused persisted in her attack - and had to be held and restrained until police arrived.

The younger woman was arrested and taken to Coatbridge Police Station.

She was held in custody and was only expected to be released following an appearance at Airdrie Sheriff Court by time of going to press.
