Man arrested after knife incident in Abronhill

An incident with an armed man in an Abronhill street which sparked several calls to police has culminated in the arrest of a 31-year-old male.

Horrified eyewitnesses contacted officers around 9pm yesterday (June 25) on seeing a man on Hawthorn Road acting in a threatening manner - and allegedly in possession of a knife.

Police were able to trace the man but he ran off, sparking a chase on foot

However police succeeded in catching up with the suspect in Gean Court and a scuffle ensued.

When he was searched he would found to be in possession of two knives. He was charged with possessing these, resisting arrest plus threatening and abusive behaviour. Areport has been sent to the fiscal.
