Police sweep after violence flares in Abronhill

Abronhill was the scene of four arrests on Sunday (May 31) and officers believe that the two separate incidents may in fact be linked.

Officers received reports of two males with weapons behaving in a threatening and abusive manner in the Spruce Road area on Sunday (May 31) around 5.30pm.

This resulted in two males aged 16 and 14 being arrested and charged with alleged possession of a weapons and threatening behaviour, theft and assault.

Enquiries are continuing to see if this is connected to another incident that evening in Rowan Road at around 7pm which also allegedly involved the use of weapons.

Officers said they had occasion to speak to a 29-year-old male who was allegedly found to be in possession of a knife and Class C drugs

He was then arrested and held in custody.

However, the matter did not end there after a 34-year old male linked to the incident was traced by police on Spruce Road.

He was allegedly found with a baseball bat and Class C drugs. He is alleged to have assaulted police and resisted arrest.He was eventually arrested and held in custody.
