Police have confirmed that they have arrested a man and a woman who allegedly targeted a residential area last Friday.
The sight of a man and a woman in Smithstone’s Hopepark Drive aroused suspicions last Friday,- after neighbours saw them trying to gain access at the entries to different properties, in this relatively secluded part of town.
Officers then received reports that various items had been taken from a number of homes, after the duo managed to find a way in.
Police managed to collect descriptions of the man and woman and headed out of town to find them.
Officers drove to a yard in Kirkintilloch where a couple matching those descriptions ha turned up at.
As a consequence, a 27-year-old man from Cumbernauld and a 21 year old from Kirkintilloch were arrested.
Stolen items were recovered and positively identified as those allegedly taken from Hopepark Drive.
The couple face a further charge under Section of the Civic Government Scotland Act.
This relates to being on property without the permission of owners, with the intention of committing a crime.
A report on these individuals has now been sent by police to the procurator fiscal in Airdrie.
