Violence flares in Kilsyth

Police are on the hunt for witnesses after a man fell prey to a serious assault on his own doorstep in a Kilsyth street in broad daylight.

The shocking incident occurred in Northfield Road last Wednesday (June 17) around 6pm.

The hunt for the attacker is underway and anyone who can help is asked to call 101 quoting incident number quoting crime reference number NC02250620.

Meanwhile it has emerged that an arrest has been made for an alleged assault in the town that took place the following day (Thursday) at 2am.

Officer heard reports that a 19-year-old male had been targeted on Fisher Avenue.

Subsequent enquiries led to an 18-year-old male being traced.

He has been arrested for assault and for being in possession of a knife in a public place.

A report on this incident has been sent to the procurator fiscal in Airdrie.
