Wilful fire raising in Kilsyth... and police later targeted on duty in Cumbernauld

Police say they are drawing a link in Kilsyth between two incidents which happened two months apart.

Back in November, the News and Chronicle reported that two cars had been set on fire at a home in the town’s Glasgow Road - and police believed that their owner was being deliberately targeted.

Now there has been another act of wilful fire raising close by in the same street and police say they are “open minded” about the prospects of the incidents being connected.

Police and the fire services were called out to the incident which took place yesterday (January 7) around 9pm.

An outbuilding had been set alight and both police and the fire crew agreed that had been started deliberately.

Anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the incident should contact police on 101 quoting crime number NC00670121.

Police have also confirmed that they dealt with a disturbance shortly afterwards back in Cumbernauld - when officers allegedly came under attack in the line of duty.
