Croy council members crisis

CROY Community Council will fold within days if no new members come forward.

The warning came from member John McColl, who intends to bow out himself - for health reasons - fears that the group he has been forced to leave is on its last legs.

The community coun-cil has fallen victim to a lack of public interest since the death of its secretary James Hunt last month.

Mr McColl said: ''It is something that has really affected us, especially as James was involved with so many different groups in the area.

"We are holding a meeting on Monday night (March 22) and if we do not get at least five new members, I will have to contact North Lanarkshire Council headquarters and have our community council wound up.''

M r McColl revealed that he had already made the call which he thought would lead to the dissolution of the group - but was asked by a NLC official to make a last ditch plea for new members.

"We would urge people to come forward because this is the ideal forum for people to raise the issues which affect them. It's a good way of getting a platform said Mr McColl.

The meeting will take place in Croy Clinic at 6pm.
