Croy family to walk West Highland Way for charity

A FAMILY from Croy will soon be tackling the West Highland Way to raise money that will help combat breast cancer.

The team, the Hackett Hikers, are Margaret and Peter Hackett, their daughters Ann, Helen and Denise and their children, making 13 walkers total. The multitalented team are even planning to produce a commemorative DVD featuring photos and even specially composed music. They have chosen to give all proceeds to the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Team member Ann McArthur said: “We have spent the last few months not only training physically but preparing and kitting ourselves out with all that is necessary to survive walking 96 miles over six days, at a time when ‘the Scottish Midgie‘ is out in full force.  “We will take great pleasure absorbing the spectacular scenery along ‘the way’, starting in Milngavie and ending in Fort William.

To capture this we have nominated two family members to be the group’s ‘official photographers’, and another family member has even composed a truly touching song called ‘The Old Road to Fort William.”

Anyone interested in helping them with this goal can visit the donations website at http://original.justgiving.com/hackett-hikers, and they have also set up their own Facebook group which can be found at
