Cumbernauld and Kilsyth residents urged not to panic over soaring fuel bills

Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Citizens’ Advice Bureau has advised locals to prepare for fuel increases by seeking advice and planning ahead.

Manager Ian Eadie said: “There has been a lot of publicity over the recent rises in fuel bills.

“In the last few weeks all the main suppliers have announced big price hikes, further increasing bills people were already struggling to pay.

“Citizens’ Advice Scotland has been among the leading voices condemning these increases and we will continue to argue for better regulation of the fuel industry.”

Ian added: “ The important thing is not to panic when the bills come through your door.”

Ian said: “Many people are tempted to ignore bills, or to pay them using credit cards or a bank overdraft. But all they do is get you into further debt. Keep calm and seek help.”
