Cumbernauld and Kilsyth will have two Orange walks at weekend

Both Kilsyth and Cumbernauld will host Orange Walks on Saturday, May 30.

The walks which are said to be on the smaller end of the scale and will involve the same personnel will start in Kilsyth at 9.15am.

And the second walk will begin in Cumbernauld Village at 11.15am. The route of this march has been publicised and will take in Old Glasgow Road with members processing to Smithyends.

They have been organised by Kelvin Valley Orange & Purple District 54. It is thought 150 marchers are involved.

Chief Inspector David Bruce confirmed: ‘‘Officers from Cumbernauld will police two Orange Walks during the course of the morning.

“Sufficient officers will be on duty to ensure the free flow of traffic and the safety of the public and participants.’’

North Lanarkshire Council’s licensing board has also confirmed that another walk is planned for Cumbernauld within the next two months.

The date has been set and approved for Saturday, July 4.

However, this walk will have an earlier start at 8am.
