Cumbernauld beauty spots are in the frame in national photography competition

These majestic shots of nature’s bounty were taken in Cumbernauld Glen and Ravenswood Nature reserve by Campsie View resident Katrina Martin.

The images wowed judges at the Scottish Seabird Centre who are staging their seventh national competition for snappers. A public voting process via www.seabird.org is now underway.

And the 25 year old from Campsie View was the only entrant to be shortlisted in three categories in the contest

Katrina, who is an administrative assistant at Stirling University, originally hails from Norfolk but has grown to love Cumbernauld.

She said “I actually feel like I am on a bit of a mission to get Cumbernauld’s beautiful side recognised. I admit that I wasn’t the town’s biggest fan especially coming from the countryside, but on exploring myself and finding all its beautiful nature reserves and greenspaces I have been totally converted.

“That’s why I am eager to do so much more to raise the profile and nurture the respect it deserves from further afield,” she said.
