Cumbernauld cadets win high-flying prize

TWO Air Cadets from Cumbernauld 2496 Squadron Air Training Corps who came tops in a charity collection, received their prize of a flying lesson with The Leading Edge Flying Club at Cumbernauld Airport at the weekend.

Out of all the cadets participating, Cadet Michael McKay and Cadet John Campbell collected the most money during the recent RAF Association Battle of Britain Wings Appeal.

The prize was jointly sponsored by Allan Falconer, managing director of The Leading Edge Flying Club and the RAFA, Cumbernauld Branch.

In addition, Cadet Michael McKay receives “The Gill Clark Memorial Shield” awarded annually to the outright winner of the competition.

The flying instructor was James Longworth.
