Cumbernauld hair stylist plans charity night for ill lad (10)

A CUMBERNAULD hair stylist is inviting locals to a special event in Moodiesburn on August 12.

Fathom Berwick who works in Jackson’s hair salon in Cumbernauld Village wants to help a little boy who is struggling with a condition that is hard to treat. The son of an old friend who lives in Ayr, the lad’s name is Morgan Malone and he suffers from hydrocephalus or water on the brain.

This is generally controlled with a shunt-style device inside the brain and it is complications with this process which have left the 10-year-old partially blind and battling chronic pain.

Fathom said: “Morgan has a very high IQ, is very funny and has missed school since last year. He is a brave, lovely wee boy who is always apologising for being ill and doesn’t want to be a burden to anyone which he certainly is not. He puts 150 per cent into everything he does and feels guilty when his pain stops him.

“The fundraising night is to raise money for Morgan which will hopefully make life a bit easier for him.”

The event is in the Knights of Saint Columba Hall in Blackwood Crescent. It’s a live music extravaganza, and acts include Colonel Mustard and the Dijons, O.H.L and The Beating Dolls. There will also be a DJ. Tickets are just £4 from the salon in Smithyends.
